The Pearson Test of English Academic(PTE Academic) is the English test trusted by universities, colleges and governments around the world. PTE Academic scores are accepted by the Australian and New Zealand governments for immigration visa purposes. It is a better alternative to IELTS for nurses and professionals who wish to immigrate or work in Australia and New Zealand.Similar to IELTS, it assesses all four language skills – listening, reading, writing, and speaking abilities of candidates. It is a computerized test and is computer marked which ensures that all test takers are scored impartially and accurately. Results are typically available within five business days. It is highly flexible as tests can be booked within 48 hours and tests are conducted over 360 days of the year in all the major cities in India. Tests can be postponed or cancelled if required. Test scores are valid for two years. No minimum qualification is required to take PTE Academic test. A valid passport is mandatory.

ABOUT THE TEST

To complete a PTE Academic test, you will need to attend a secure Pearson test center. You will use a computer and headset to listen to, read and respond to questions.

During the three-hour test session there will be three main parts to the test: speaking and writing (together), listening and reading. There are twenty different question formats, ranging from multiple choice through to essay writing and interpreting information.

PTE Academic assesses real-life, academic English, so you will hear excerpts from lectures and view graphs and charts. You will hear a range of accents in the test, from British and American to non-native speakers, so you will be exposed to the type of accents you will encounter in everyday life.
