FSWP (federal skilled worker program)

Federal Skilled Worker applications are being processed throughout the year under Express Entry scheme. Candidates must meet the pre-requisite before making an application. Skilled Work Experience: Have at least one year of continuous full-time or equivalent paid work experience in the past 10 years in a skilled occupation (National Occupational Classification skill lever 0, A or B).

Education: The applicant must have an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report from an agency approved by Citizenship & Immigration Canada (CIC) to show that the applicant’s education is equal to Canadian education standards.

Language Skills: The applicant must meet the minimum language level of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7, and take a language test approved by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) that shows you meet the level for speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Facts about the Program:-

• There is no restrictions on number of applications will be placed in the Express entry pool.
• There is no requirement of job offer to place application in express entry pool.
• There is no specific occupations to enter in the Express entry pool, one needs to qualify under OAB Category occupation meet pre-requisite to enter in the Pool system.

Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)

The Federal Skilled Trades Program is for people who want to apply for permanent resident status based on being qualified in a skilled trade. Applicant applying under this category must ensure to meet basic eligibility criteria.

Must have at least two years of full-time work experience (or an equal amount of part-time work experience) in a skilled trade within the five years before applying.

Must meet the job requirements for that skilled trade as set out in the National Occupational Classification (NOC).

Must have a full time employment letter for the time period of at least one year; or a certificate of qualification in that skilled trade issued by a Canadian Provincial or Territorial authority.

Canadian Experience Class:-

Individuals who have worked in Canada and who wish to settle permanently in Canada with their accompanying dependents can apply under the Canadian Experience Class.

Canada Experience Class program recognizes the benefits to Canada by candidates who have spent significant amounts of time pursuing their studies and working careers in Canada. It recognizes their contributions to the Canadian economy and the creation of strong links to Canadian society. This strengthens the permanent residence programs to Canada.

Requirements for Canadian Experience Class

• Eligibility for permanent residence under this class is assessed on a pass-fail basis where the primary criteria are the following:
• Candidate has acquired 12 months of full-time work experience in an occupation categorized as Skill Type 0 or Skill Level A or B of the National Occupation Classification (NOC). Qualifying occupations are those of a managerial, professional, technical or skilled trade nature.
• The qualifying Canadian work experience was acquired within the 36 months immediately preceding the date of application.
• Candidate demonstrates sufficient proficiency in one of Canada’s official languages. The level of proficiency required is determined by the occupation in which the candidate gained qualifying Canadian work experience.
• Not be inadmissible to Canada on medical, criminal or security grounds.

How does the Express Entry selection process works:-

All applications will go in pool system with Express entry profile number and with Job Bank account will have CRS score ( comprehensive Ranking system-600 points)

Successful candidates with get ITA to apply for PR within 90 days from date of receipt ITA.Higher the CRS faster the invitations.

People with low CRS might have chances to get qualified through P.N.P scheme, one needs to meet province pre-requisite. Qualified candidate gets additional 600 bonus points.

When application is in Pool, through Job bank account one needs to Promote to Canadian job market besides job bank account through job sites, portals etc. recommended for better chances, if employer selects and able to sponsor with LMIA (labor market impact assessment report) candidate can score additional 600 bonus points to get ITA.

Most provinces and territories in Canada can nominate immigrants through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). These immigrants must have the skills, education and work experience to contribute to the economy of that province or territory, and must want to live there.

Each province and territory has its own “streams” (immigration programs that target certain groups) and criteria for their PNP. For example, in a program stream, provinces and territories may target students, business people, skilled workers or semi-skilled workers.

Since January 1, 2015, many provinces and territories have launched new Express Entry streams.

The details of the PNP for different provinces of Canada are as follows

Nova Scotia – Skilled workers and entrepreneurs with proven experience stand a good chance to qualify for this program. The categories under which the candidates can apply are as follows- the Nova Scotia International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream, the Nova Scotia Entrepreneur Stream, the Nova Scotia Family Business Worker Immigration Stream, the Nova Scotia Skilled Worker Immigration Stream and the Nova Scotia Demand- Express Entry. You should be able to prove a good financial stability and should have adequate language proficiency as per Canadian Language Benchmark 7.

Manitoba – The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program allows candidates to apply as Skilled Workers Overseas. In order to qualify, a connection with Manitoba has to be proven through previous work experience, educational qualifications or through family or friends.

Prince Edward Island – Candidates who are eligible under the FSW stream and are interested in living and working in Prince Edward Island for two years may apply to the PNP Express Entry Stream. Eligible applicants may benefit from processing times of six months or less. You should also have an active Express Entry online profile. If you are shortlisted based on your skills or experience then you will be sent an “Invitation to Apply”.

Saskatchewan – Under the Saskatchewan Provincial Nominee Program a candidate can apply for immigration as a permanent resident under the following categories. Saskatchewan Express Entry, International Skilled Worker Category, Saskatchewan Experience Category and Entrepreneur and Farm Category. Based on your rank and score you will receive further information on the invitation to apply for permanent resident permit.

Alberta – The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) is relevant for semi-skilled as well as skilled workers. A candidate can apply with his dependent children for immigration as a permanent resident under the AINP. It is usually operated by Government of Canada in conjunction with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) which usually chooses the final candidates who qualify for this program. They definitely want to select the best skilled workers as immigrants so that they can contribute positively to the economy of the province.

Ontario – Ontario Provincial Nominee Program (OOPNP) strictly goes by the results of Comprehensive Ranking System and considers candidates who have a score of more than 400 points. You will have to fill an application form for OOPNP with supporting documents like a copy of birth certificate, passport etc. with a fee of $1500. You will be notified if your application gets shortlisted.

New Brunswick – Once should have an active Express Entry online profile and should send a mail to the New Brunswick Province office along with the resume and a filled Express of Interest or EOI form. Candidates who score highest based on their skills or work experience as per the Comprehensive Ranking System stand a good chance of getting invited to apply to NBPNP Express Entry Labor Market Stream.

British Columbia – The British Columbia PNP or BCNP accepts applications under different categories namely, the Health Care Professional, Northeast Pilot Project and the recently launched Entrepreneur Immigration. Other categories are the Express Entry, entry level, semi-skilled, skilled workers etc. Based on your ranking you will receive an “Invitation to Apply” as per the BCPNP norms.
